BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Union's Chad Boyington and Armond Smith were named the Mid-South Conference Special Teams and Offensive Players of the Week, the league announced Monday.

This is the third time Smith (Stone Mountain, Ga.) has received the conference's weekly honor and second as the MSC Offensive Player of the Week. Last week, Smith earned the MSC Special Teams Player of the Week award.

For Boyington (Stockbridge, Ga.), this is the first weekly honor of his career.

Pikeville's (Ky.) Anson Cunningham won the MSC Defensive Player of the Week honor.

Smith rushed for 243 yards on a career-high 23 attempts in Saturday's 47-33 win over Faulkner (Ala.). The senior running back averaged 10.6 yards per carry. Smith added three rushing touchdowns - from 2, 24 and 88 yards - to conclude the season with a single-season program-record 16 rushing scores.

Smith's 1,376 rushing yards, 125.1 rushing yards per game and 102 points are also single-season program records.

Boyington connected on a field goal and was 4-for-4 on PATs on Saturday to earn MSC Special Teams Player of the Week.

The junior punter/kicker split the uprights from 32 yards out to help the Bulldogs to their second straight win and fifth in their last six games. In addition to his kicking duties, Boyington averaged 36.3 yards in his three punts, including a long of 48 yards.

Union concludes its season with a 7-4 overall record and a 4-2 record in the MSC West. The Bulldogs finished tied with Cumberland (Tenn.) for second place in the West.
