BARBOURVILLE, Ky. --
Union's Turrell Morris
was named the Appalachian Athletic Conference's men's basketball player of the week on Monday. The honor was the first awarded on the 2010-11 season.
Morris (Columbus, Ohio), a sophomore, helped the Bulldogs to a 1-1 record last week as they
participated in the Sterling (Kan.) College Classic.
In the loss to
Tabor (Kan.) on Friday, the 6-foot-6 guard recorded a double-double with 20 points
and 12 rebounds. It was his third double-double in a row. Morris then led Union with 12 points and seven rebounds in a 63-56 win
over host Sterling on Saturday.
Currently, Morris leads Union with a 17.2 point-per-game average. He also leads the team in rebounding average with 9.80 boards per game.
Union returns to action tonight with a road contest at Friends University. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
