
MONTREAT, N.C. - No. 8 Union College saw its season come to a close Tuesday following a 3-2, overtime loss to host and top-seeded Montreat (N.C.) College in the opening round of the Appalachian Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Tournament.
The Bulldogs end the season with an 8-9-1 overall record, while the Cavaliers improved to 14-3-1.
Down 2-1 late in the game, Aaron Miller (Cincinnati, Ohio) headed in a rebound shot in the 86th minute to send the game into overtime.
Things looked promising for Union as the game rolled into overtime; however, Kemar Brown scored his second goal of the game in the 98th minute to lift Montreat to the 3-2 decision.
The Cavaliers outshot the Bulldogs 19-9 and had eight shots on goal to the Bulldogs' four.
Jonathan Shaw (Merseyside, England) played 86 minutes in net and made three saves, while Eric Ashcraft (Corinth, Ky.) recorded two saves.
Howard Fisher made two stops in the win.
The first half almost went scoreless, but Shaka Bangura's header with 18 seconds remaining in the period.
Daniel Perez (Cali, Columbia) evened the score in the 47th minute, but Brown put Montreat on top 2-1 with a goal in the 66th minute.
