Union's Turrell Morris
has been named the Appalachian Athletic Conference's men's basketball Player of the Week for the period ending Jan. 8th the league announced on Monday.
This marks the third time that Morris (Columbus, Ohio) has been named the AAC's Player of the Week this season, as he earned the award on both Nov. 22nd and Nov. 29th.
Morris paced Union to wins in their first two AAC games on the season this past week, as they knocked off Virginia Intermont (91-87) and Reinhardt (82-77). He averaged 25.5 points in the victories and seven rebounds per game. Morris also shot a torrid 90.5 percent (19-for-21) from the floor on the week, going a perfect 11-for-11 in Union's win over Reinhardt.
On the season, Morris leads the AAC in scoring averaging 19.69 points per game and rebounding with 9.75 boards per game. He also ranks seventh in the entire NAIA in total rebounds with 156.
Morris and the rest of the Bulldogs return to action on Wednesday evening when they travel to Bluefield in an AAC tilt. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
