BRISTOL, Tenn. --
NCAA Division-II member King got off to a quick start and never looked back as they defeated the Union College men's basketball team, 106-58 on Monday night in exhibition action.
In the first half, King leaped out to an early lead in the first moments of the contest and never relinquished it the rest of the contest.
The Tornado opened a 31-12 lead with 14:42 left in the period, as the closest the Bulldogs got to the King lead in the half was at the 7:35 mark when they shrunk the lead to 12 (37-25). King's lead eventually ballooned over the final minutes of the half and they went into the locker room at intermission with a comfortable 58-31 lead.
It was more of the same in the second half, as King coasted to the easy exhibition victory, outscoring the Bulldogs 48-27 in the second stanza.
For the game, Union was led by sophomore Turrell Morris
(Columbus, Ohio) who scored 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting. Meanwhile, Brent Cork
(Saginaw, Mich.) and Stuart Stamper
(Hindman, Ky.) both added 10 points to round out the Bulldog double-digit scorers on the evening. For King, Mark Dockery led the way, scoring 24 points.
Union returns to action on Wednesday night when they host Milligan in an AAC tilt at Robsion Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
