WALESKA, Ga. - Limited to its lowest point total since 2002, Union suffered a 51-37 Appalachian Athletic Conference defeat at Reinhardt (Ga.) on Wednesday.

The Lady Bulldogs (15-9 overall, 5-4 AAC) were last held under 50 points on Jan. 31, 2009, in a 78-43 loss at Milligan (Tenn.), but the last time Union didn't score at least 40 came during the 2001-02 season when it was in the Mid-South Conference. Union only scored 36 points against Georgetown (Ky.) on Jan. 17, 2002, and just 38 against Transylvania (Ky.) on Jan. 22, 2002.

In Wednesday's contest, neither team shot the ball well. Although it lost by 14, Union shot the ball better from the field than Reinhardt. The Lady Bulldogs hit 29.2 percent (14-of-48 shots) from the field and 15.4 percent (2-of-13 shots) from long range. Meanwhile, Reinhardt went 15-for-57 (26.3 percent) from the floor and 1-for-13 (7.7 percent) from 3-point range.

Where the Lady Eagles (12-12 overall, 3-6 AAC) gained the advantage was at the foul line. Reinhardt hit 20-of-24 free throws (83.3 percent), while Union went 7-for-11 (63.6 percent).

Union also turned the ball over 25 times to Reinhardt's 17.

The Lady Bulldogs held the early advantage, owning leads of 5-0 and 7-6. Reinhardt took a 12-9, but an Alyson Roberts (Baxter, Tenn.) drained a 3-pointer to tie it with 7:10 left in the half. However, Union only scored two more points the rest of the period as Reinhardt took a 22-14 lead into the break.

In the second half, Union cut the margin to 25-20 after Amber Taylor (Clinton, Tenn.) hit a pair of free throws. But that was the closest the Lady Bulldogs could get to reclaiming the lead as Reinhardt collected the 51-37 decision.

Kara Pile (Fairdale, Ky.) was the lone Lady Bulldog to hit double figures as she scored 12 points. Courtney Thomas (Glasgow, Ky.) pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds.

For Reinhardt, Monique Blanding had 13 with Jordan Huett-Marsh netted 12.

Union returns home Saturday to host Bluefield (Va.) in AAC action. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
