KENT, Ohio --
The Union men's and women's track & field squads participated at the Kent State Tune Up Meet on Saturday. The event was held at the Kent State Fieldhouse.
Leading the way overall on the day was freshman Jaquan Holland
, who registered impressive finishes in two events. He placed second overall in the 200m dash after crossing the finish line in 22.08, while in the finals of the 60m dash, he crossed the finish line in 7.02 to place eighth overall. Holland's time in the 200m was also an NAIA National Qualifying "A" standard. Meanwhile, fellow freshman Steven Carron
placed eighth in the 200m in 22.49 and 16th in the 400m dash with a mark of 49.62, which was a "B" standard.
In men's field events, Andrew Johnston
finished 11th in the pole vault with a clearance of 13 feet, 1.50 inches, while John Luther
finished 14th in the shot put after posting a throw of 49 feet, 2.50 inches. The lone women's performances of note on the day were recorded by Naudine Coulson
in the 60m dash where she finished 27th in 8.33, and in the 200m dash, where she placed 29th in 27.46
The Union track & field teams will end their 2011 indoor season at the NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships. The event, held in Geneva, Ohio, begins on March 3.
