WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. - The 10th-ranked Union men's tennis team returned to its winning ways as it scored a 9-0 victory over host Cumberlands (Ky.) on Friday.
Coming off a tough 7-2 loss to NCAA Division II Northwest Missouri State, the Bulldogs registered their fourth 9-0 decision of the season and second one versus Cumberlands.
The win improves Union to 11-4 on the year, while Cumberlands drops to 0-10 overall.
Union swept through doubles play, winning 8-3, 8-4 and 8-2.
The Bulldogs won all six singles matches with Nicolas Ernst (Rietheim, Germany) and Bartos Micher (Junginen, Germany) winning their matches by the identical scores of 6-1, 6-3. Gilles Cornelius (Wijnegem, Belgium) had a fairly easy time in match, netting a 6-1, 6-4 decision.
Union returns to action Saturday when it plays host to NCAA Division I Western Kentucky at 1 p.m. Union and WKU met earlier in the season with the Hilltoppers registering a 6-1 win.
