ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Union (Ky.) captured both of the Appalachian Athletic Conference weekly awards with Brandon Hedrick earning Pitcher of the Week honors and Cory Perreault the Player of the Week nod, the league announced Monday.

The 14th-ranked Bulldogs went 5-1 last week to improve their overall record to 29-8 on the season. Union sits atop the AAC standing with a 9-2 conference mark.

Hedrick, a junior from Corbin, Ky., posted two complete-game wins, including a one-hit shutout over Bluefield. Opponents hit .089 against him this week as he gave up only 4 hits. Hedrick struck out 14 in 14 innings pitched In addition, he helped out at the plate with a home run and seven RBIs.

Perreault, a junior from Phoenix, Ariz., led Union with .563 batting average and nine RBIs last week. He was walked six times and was hit by a pitch three times as he boasted a .720 on-base percentage. Perreault currently on a season-best seven-game hit streak. Playing shortstop, he was perfect in the field with no errors in 16 total chances as he was a part of four double plays.
