BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - The Union men's tennis team posted a 9-0 Appalachian Athletic Conference victory over visiting Milligan on Saturday, while the Lady Bulldogs lost 7-2.
The Bulldogs are now 13-4 overall and 2-0 in the AAC, while Milligan is 4-7 overall and 1-2 in conference play. The loss drops the Lady Bulldogs to 0-8 and 0-2 in league play, and Milligan is now 9-4 overall and 3-0 in the AAC.
In the men's match, Union cruised through doubles play in winning all three matches by the counts of 8-1, 8-1 and 8-3.
The Bulldogs dominated singles action, but Yvon Haessig (Vancouver, Canada) had to overcome a 5-2 deficit in the first set to win 7-5, 6-0.
In the women's match, Milligan swept the doubles matches. Union's two points came during singles play with Diane Proteau (Bussy Saint Georges, France) winning 8-4 and Ximena Aguilar (Morelia, Mexico) also winning 8-4.
Union returns to action Tuesday when it plays at Reinhardt (Ga.) at 2 p.m. in another conference match.
