KINGSPORT, Tenn. -- The Union College softball team kicks off action at the 2011 Appalachian Athletic Conference Softball Tournament tomorrow, where they enter as the sixth-seed. The Lady Bulldogs will open the tournament against third-seed Milligan, with first pitch scheduled for 3 p.m. at Domtar Park.

The Lady Bulldogs, who finished the regular year with a 21-26 overall mark, 5-9 in the AAC, enters this years tournament in a familiar place in the six spot, as the team started last season's AAC tourney in the same position. There, Union went a perfect 4-0 to win the tournament and earn the program a spot in the NAIA World Series for the first time.

This season, the Lady Bulldogs have been led in the pitching circle and at the plate by senior Falon Catalano, who was named the AAC's Pitcher of the Week two of the last three weeks.

As the Union ace, Catalano has gone 8-5 with an impressive 1.65 ERA, striking out 126 batters, while walking just 19. Catalano has also come in out of the bullpen and registered four saves on the year as well. At the dish, Catalano leads the team with a .331 batting average and is tied for the team lead with 13 doubles.

Milligan comes into the tournament with a 28-17-1 overall mark, 9-5 in the AAC. Earlier in the season, Milligan and Union split at doubleheader at Union Field, with the Lady Bulldogs taking game one by a 1-0 score, with the Lady Buffaloes taking game two 5-4.

Reinhardt will enter the tournament as the number one seed after posting a 36-8 overall mark and a perfect 14-0 record in the AAC. The Lady Eagles come into the tournament riding a 14 game winning streak.
