BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – Two Union College cross country runners, Brandon Kibert and Eric Kinman, earned All-Appalachian Athletic Conference honors with their performances at Saturday’s AAC/NAIA Region XII Cross Country Championship contested at Sycamore Shoals State Park in Elizabethton, Tenn.
Kibert (Tazewell, Tenn.), a senior, finished fourth in both the AAC and Region XII standings to earn the All-AAC nod as well as All-Region XII honors. With the fourth-place finish Kibert qualified for the NAIA Cross Country National Championship in Kenosha, Wis. on November 17. He is the first Bulldog to earn a trip to the national championship since Union reinstated cross country in 2004. Kibert covered the 8k course with a time of 26 minutes and 45 seconds.
Kinman (Erlanger, Ky.) finished 23rd overall, but he was fast enough to be placed on the All-AAC Freshmen team. He finished at the 28:12 mark and was the second Bulldog across the finish line.
The two All-AAC performers helped Union to a third place finish in the conference.
