KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Union wraps up the 2011 regular-season as the 10th-ranked team in the final edition of the 2011 NAIA Men's Tennis Coaches' Top 25 Poll, the NAIA announced Monday.
The Bulldogs (17-5 overall) received 177 total points, six fewer than No. 9 Vanguard (Calif.) and 11 more than No. 11 Shorter (Ga.).
Fresno Pacific (Calif.) closes out the season as the unanimous No. 1 team in NAIA Coaches' Poll. The Sunbirds, who are making their 15th-straight appearance at the top spot in the poll, earned all 10 first-place votes and 250 points. The rest of the top five remains the same with second-ranked Embry-Riddle (Fla.) collecting 242 points, followed by defending national champion Auburn Montgomery (Ala.) at No. 3 with 233 points. No. 4 Oklahoma Christian and fifth-ranked Azusa Pacific (Calif.) earned 226 and 218 points, respectively.
Union is still awaiting word if it will receive an at-large bid to the 2011 NAIA National Championship Tournament. The qualifiers will be announced on Monday by 7 p.m.
