WILMORE, Ky. - In their last regular season contests of the season, the Union College volleyball team split a pair of matches at the Asbury (Ky.) College tri-match Tuesday. The Lady Bulldogs started the evening with a 3-1 loss against Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) College, but Union rebounded and handed Asbury a 3-0 defeat.

Lindsey Wilson took the first game 30-28 before Union took the next game 30-25. The next two were in favor of Lindsey Wilson, 30-11 and 30-17 to hand the Lady Bulldogs the setback.

Against Lindsey Wilson, Christina Prindle (Florence, Ky.) dished out 23 assists while Tracie Phillips (Bowling Green, Ky.) was credited with 13 digs. Stephanie Pateman (Weyburn, Canada) and Marlee Cooper (Bloomington, Ill.) recorded ten and eight kills, respectively.

The Lady Bulldogs used scores of 30-19, 31-29 and 30-23 for their 19th victory this season via a sweep over Asbury in the nightcap.

In the Asbury contest, Prindle totaled 33 assists and Phillips collected 20 digs to give her 818 on the season to extend her school record. Brooke Vinovich (Somerset, Ky.) led the Lady Bulldogs with 12 kills, meanwhile Pateman and Deena OíHare (Perry, Canada) recorded eight apiece.

Union, the top team in NAIA Region XII, moves to 32-12 overall before the Appalachian Athletic Conference tournament which begins Friday at King College in Bristol, Tenn. The Lady Bulldogs are the No. 1 seed after they won the regular-season championship with a 16-2 conference record. Union will play the winner between No. 8 Virginia Intermont College and No. 9 Bluefield (Va.) College at 11 a.m. in a first-round contest. The Virginia Intermont and Bluefield matchis set to begin at 9 a.m.
