BARBOURVILLE, Ky. -- Union College head softball coach has announced that Ashley Wojnowski and Lindsey Vaught have signed letters of intent to join the Lady Bulldog program. Both Wojnowski and Vaught were high school teammates, prepping at Pigeon Forge High School in Pigeon Forge, Tenn.
"Yes, we're very excited (to be going to college together)," said Vaught. "Yes (that played a part in the decision to chose Union College), because we're best friends. We are very excited. We're ready to get out of here now and get started."
"We've played all through high school and in summer ball together, and we're excited to be playing together for the next four years," said Wojnowski. "We're ready to go to college, ready to play together all over again."
Vaught, who is a pitcher and was Pidgeon Forge's ace, posted a career ERA under 1.50. Wojnowski, a position player, posted an impressive .517 batting average at the dish this past season, recording an OPS of 1.109. For her career, she had a .433 batting average.
