CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. --
Campbellsville's Megan Campbell scored two goals, as the Lady Tigers scored five goals in the second period to pull away from the Union College women's soccer team in a 6-1 win on Tuesday night at Finley Stadium.
With the loss, Union fell to 2-2 on the season, while Campbellsville improved to 2-1 with the victory.
In the first half, Campbellsville got on the board quickly, as Campbell scored her first goal of the contest in the fifth minute to give the Lady Tigers the 1-0 edge. Campbellsville would hold onto this lead the rest of the period, as the match remained 1-0 going into the half.
In the second half, Campbellsville put Union away quickly in the period's onset. Jessica Ralph scored in the 49th minute to make it 2-0, then Campbell added her second score of the match in the 58th minute to make it 3-0, Campbellsville. In the 67th minute, CU's Cassie Yannelli scored the third goal of the period for the Lady Tigers, making the score 4-0.
Union finally cracked the scoreboard in the 71st minute, when senior Nikki Jeck
(Richmond, Ky.) scored her third goal of the season unassisted to make the score 4-1. The Lady Tigers added two more goals in the 83rd and 85th minute to record the final tally.
Overall, Campbellsville outshot Union 19-16, while UC had a 9-3 advantage in corner kicks. Campbellsville goalie Brandie Hagerman was impressive on the night, making eight saves in the win.
Union returns to the pitch on Tuesday, Sept. 13 at St. Catharine's. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m.
