BARBOURVILLE, Ky. --
Sophomore Sofie Jorgensen
scored three goals, all in the second half, to lead the Union College women's soccer team to a convincing 5-2 victory over Cumberlands (Ky.) on Tuesday afternoon at Burch/Nau Field.
With the win, Union improved to 4-3 on the year, while Cumberlands dropped to 2-5 with the defeat.

(Marburg, Germany) scored her team-leading seventh goal of the season off a Nikki Jeck
(Richmond, Ky.) cross to make it 1-0 Union just 1:53 into the match.
Cumberlands, however, countered the goal in the 17th minute when Marcela Calienta scored her first goal of the season off a corner kick to knot the game up at one.
In the 30th minute, Union took the lead back as Jeck scored her fourth goal of the year from 15 yards out off a Chelsi Walls
(Stanford, Ky.) cross, making it 2-1 in favor of the Lady Bulldogs. Union kept the one-goal lead the rest of the half and into the locker room for halftime.
In the second half, Union pulled away from Cumberlands thanks to a goal scoring explosion from Jorgensen (Oksbol, Denmark). Her first goal of the came in the 51st minute after she put a ball into the net off a ricochet from the Cumberlands goalie. The score, which turned out to be the game-winner, gave Union a 3-1 lead.
Jorgensen's second goal of the afternoon came in the 69th minute, when she laced a free kick from 20 yards out into the corner of the net to make it 4-1, UC. Jorgensen then completed the second half hat trick in the 75th minute, when she scored from two yards out off a Morgan Stuck
(Shepardsville, Ky.) cross, making the score 5-1 in favor of the Lady Bulldogs.
Cumberlands scored the game's final goal in the 86th minute, but it was too little, too late, as Union rolled to the three-goal victory.
Overall, Union outshot Cumberlands 24-12 in the contest, while the Patriots had a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks. Lady Bulldog goalie Stephanie Burton
(Queensland, Australia) earned the win, after making four saves in between the pipes for Union. Also, with her three-goal day, Jorgensen has now scored six goals on the season.
The Lady Bulldogs return to the pitch on Saturday when they travel to Milligan for an AAC tilt. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
