BARBOURVILLE, Ky. -- Union College's Jonathan Watson scored two second half goals, while Chris Elliott recorded three assists, as the Bulldogs knocked off Georgetown (Ky.), 5-2, in NAIA men's soccer action at Burch/Nau Field on Wednesday afternoon.

With the win, Union moved to 4-4-1 on the year, while Georgetown dropped to 1-6 with the defeat.

In the first half, Union was first to strike, as Christian Jauregui (Mount Sterling, Ky.) scored his third goal of the season from 15 yards out on a breakaway, giving the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead in the 28th minute.

Just before the half, in the 41st minute, Jamie Cozens (Southampton, England) scored on a header in front of the box off a cross from Watson (Kirriemuir, Scotland). The score, which was the second of the season for Cozens, gave Union a 2-0 lead at the end of the first period.

In the onset of the second half, Georgetown was first to strike, and got on the scoreboard when Wes Jones scored his first goal of the year, cutting the GC deficit in half to 2-1.

Roughly two minutes later, Union took back the two-score lead when Watson notched his first goal of the season, and afternoon off an Elliott (Isle of Wight, England) cross from five yards out. With the score, Union now led 3-1.

Georgetown, however, came right back and scored in the 57th minute to cut the lead back down to one at 3-2. This was the closest the Tigers got the the Bulldogs' lead the rest of the way, as Watson scored his second goal of the day in the 76th minute off another Elliott pass, making the score 4-2.

The game's final goal was scored by Sideek Sanogo (Ivory Coast) late in the 88th minute, off another cross from Elliott in front of the box. The goal was the first of the season for the senior, and gave the Bulldogs the comfortable three-score win.

Overall, both Georgetown and Union took 14 shots apiece in the contest, while Union had a decisive 9-3 advantage on corner kicks. UC goalie Andrew Metcalf (Chester, England) picked up the win in net after making four saves on the day for the Bulldogs.

Union returns to the pitch on Saturday, when they travel to Milligan for an AAC tilt. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
