BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – Three school records fell as the Union College women’s swimming team competed against Milligan (Tenn.) College Saturday in the Lady Bulldogs’ first home meet of the season.

The first came in the 400-yard medley relay. Kristina Kirk (Versailles, Ky.), Mollie Messmer (Scott City, Mo.), Eden Ellison (Tamms, Ill.) and Kelli Rogers (Elizabethtown, Ky.) posted a time of 4 minutes and 49.19 seconds, eight seconds better than the previous mark.

Ellison swam a 2:52.64 in the 200 butterfly to break the previous Union record of 2:56.88 set last year.

Messmer captured another individual record in the 400 individual medley. She finished the event at the 5:15.18 mark for her 13th individual school record. Her time is also a NAIA B qualifying mark. She added an A cut in the 1,650 freestyle as she completed the race in a time of 19:53.54 along with another B cut in the 500 freestyle, with a 5:55.81.

“I am very pleased to see how strong our women’s team looks so far this season,” said head coach Rafael Forti. “All of them have been very important on our line-up both on individual and relay events.”

Despite the new school records set, Union (2-4 overall) lost the meet to Aqua Buffs of Milligan, 50-43.

Next for Union is another home meet against King (Tenn.) College Wednesday evening at 5 p.m.
