BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Lauren McMillancelebrated "Senior Night" in grand style as she delivered a match-high 15 kills to lead Union to a 3-0 Appalachian Athletic Conference sweep of visiting Bluefield (Va.) on Wednesday.

The Lady Bulldogs (14-13 overall, 11-1 AAC) honored their four seniors prior to the contest, the quartet put together a solid effort to guide the team to its 10th consecutive conference victory.

In addition to the 15 kills, McMillan (Corbin, Ky.) had three digs and a block assist. Senior setter Kalia Yasak (Kula, Hawaii) recorded 40 assists to go with two kills, Amelia Cantrell (Georgetown, Ky.) had seven kills and three total blocks, and Vitoria Oliveria (Sao Paulo, Brazil) notched five kills, nine digs and two solo blocks.

Union returns to action Friday when it plays host to Columbia (S.C.) in another key AAC showdown. Match time is set for 7 p.m.

The Lady Bulldogs reeled off the first four points in the opening set, but they never could shake the Lady Rams. Down 8-2, Bluefield (6-23 overall, 2-13 AAC) rallied to cut the deficit to 12-11 following a Union attack error. Moments later, a Lady Bulldog block error allowed the Lady Rams to tie the frame at 14-14. 

Union opened up a three-point cushion, but Bluefield kept it close and pulled within 21-20. However, the Lady Bulldogs received kills from McMillan, Cantrell and Chelsea Kirschman (Ponte Vedra, Fla.) in securing four of the final six points scored to pick the 25-22 decision.

Down 9-7 in the second set, Union pieced together a 12-2 rally to grab a 19-11 lead en route to the 25-14 win. 

Union appeared to be on cruise control in the third frame, jumping out to a 7-1 advantage and up 20-12 late. Yet, Bluefield stormed buck to slice the margin to 23-22 and then 24-23. Kirschman closed the door on the match with a kill off a Yasak assist to give Union the 25-23 win and the 3-0 match sweep.

Kirschman finished with five kills and five total blocks - two solos and three assists. Paige Moore (Louisville, Ky.) helped out with five kills.

For Bluefield, Megan Randall had eight kills and two solo blocks, while Cheznee Daily registered 23 assists.
