PIPPA PASSES, Ky. -- Alice Lloyd's Casey Dalton hit a three-pointer with 1.7 seconds left in overtime to catapult the host Eagles to a thrilling 90-87 win over Union College in NAIA Men's Basketball action on Monday evening.
With the loss, Union fell to 3-7 on the season, while Alice Lloyd improved to 6-3 overall with the victory.
At the end of regulation, Union found themselves knotted at 80 apiece with the Eagles after completing a comeback throughout the majority of the period. The Bulldogs had fallen behind by as much as 14 points at one point in the half.
In the overtime period, Union came out on fire, knocking down back-to-back three pointers in the first 30 seconds to take an 86-80 lead.
The Bulldogs, however, cooled off the rest of the way, as Alice Lloyd ended the game on a 10-1 run (the only point scored by UC was on a Stuart Stamper
free throw). The game was tied at 87 apiece late, and set the stage for Dalton's game-winning three late in the period, giving the Eagles a thrilling win.
Union returns to action on Wednesday when they continue their road trip at AAC-foe Bluefield. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
