BARBOURVILLE, Ky. --
Union College head men's soccer coach Tyler Brock has announced that Donavan McClure has signed a letter of intent to join the Bulldog program this fall.

McClure, a native of London, Ky., has prepped at South Laurel High School, where he played in the midfield for the school's soccer team.

"Donavon is a very mature, bright, and intelligent person both on and off the soccer field and we are very excited to have him joining our program," said head coach Tyler Brock. "When Donavon trained during his visit here at Union, he was very comfortable on the ball and he seemed to understand our system and our style of play."

This past season, McClure scored three goals and added seven assists for South Laurel, as the squad once again made it to the round of 16 in the KHSAA Tournament, marking the third trip in the last four years for the program.

Off the pitch, McClure has earned several scholarship awards the last two years, and is a Rodger's Scholar.

"Donavon has a lot of upside and I hope he comes into preseason fit and ready for a challenge because I think Donavon can learn a lot over a very short amount of time," continued Brock. "I am looking forward to see how he does in preseason. He is a well rounded student-athlete and those are the kinds of people we look forward to having on our team."

The Bulldogs are members of the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC), and went 10-7-2 a season ago.
