ROME, Ga. - The Union golf teams opened the spring portion of their schedules Monday at the Rome-News Tribune Invitational, and the Bulldogs are eighth and Lady Bulldogs ninth following the opening round.

The Bulldogs compiled a team score of 306, putting them three back of seventh-place Shorter (Ga.). Central Alabama leads the field with a 289.

Josh Dyer (Lexington, Ky.) leads Union with a 73 to put him in a tie for 11th overall. Garrett Bradley (Jellico, Tenn.) is only one back of Dyer at 74 but is tied for 18th overall. Thomas Scott (Musselburgh, Scottland) is tied for 45th overall but fired a 78.

The Lady Bulldogs pieced together a team score of 352 to put them two back of eighth-place Berry (Ga.). Lee (Tenn.) is pacing the field with a 309.

Brittany Zins (Cincinnati, Ohio) leads Union with an 85 to put her in a tie for 28th overall. Kayla Horn (London, Ky.) posted an 86 to place her 32nd.

The second round will get under way at 9 a.m. Tuesday.
