ATLANTA - The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) announced recently the 2012 WBCA National Intercollegiate Athletic Association (NAIA) Coaches' All-America Team, and Union center Lindsey Waters landed on the squad as an honorable mention.

The Stearns, Ky., native is only the second Lady Bulldog to make the WBCA All-America Team. Brooke Smith earned a spot on the team twice, once in 2007-08 and again in 2009-10.

The WBCA All-America Team was selected by a vote of the selection committee. The committee is comprised of one representative from each of the nine geographical regions and a chairperson. Additionally, the WBCA All-America Team is made up of both members of NAIA Division I and Division II.

Waters led Union in scoring (20.7 points per game), rebounding (11.1 rebounds per game) and blocks (82). She set school records for most blocked shots in a season, most free throws made (191), most rebounds in a season (367) and double-doubles in a season (20). In fact, her 20 double-doubles were third most in NAIA Division II.

Nationally, Waters ranked third in total rebounds, fourth in rebounds per game, fourth in total blocks, fourth in blocks per game (2.485), fifth in points per game and fifth in total points (683).

Waters was named the Appalachian Athletic Conference Player of the Year as well as to the All-AAC First Team, the AAC All-Defensive Team and the Academic All-AAC Team.

Union posted a 25-8 overall record and went 13-5 in conference play. The Lady Bulldogs won the AAC Tournament and advanced to the NAIA Division II National Championship Tournament.
