
BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – Mollie Messmer has posted two top 20 times as an individual and four Union College relay teams made their way to the list of top swimmers, as the NAIA announced the top times Wednesday.
Messmer (Scott City, Mo.) is 17th in the 1,650-yard freestyle after she finished the event with a time of 19 minutes and 53.54 seconds on November 10. A week earlier, she completed the 1,000 freestyle at the 11:45.26 mark to own the 19th best time nationally.
The 400 medley relay team owns the 12th best time after the group of Messmer, Kristina Kirk (Versailles, Ky.), Eden Ellison (Tamms, Ill.) and Kelli Rogers (Elizabethtown, Ky.) finished the event with a time of 4:49.19. The national qualifying time was posted on November 10.
Dena Gonzalez (Brooklyn, N.Y.) joined Kirk, Rogers and Ellison on the 400 freestyle relay team that is currently seeded 13th after they swam a 4:30.32 which was reached on November 10 as well.
Kirk, Ellison, Rogers and Messmer qualified in a pair of relay events on November 14. The time of 1:53.05 in the 200 freestyle is 16th best while they are 19th in the 200 medley with a 2:06.35.
The team will have another chance to add more national qualifiers and improve their times this weekend at the Asbury College Invitational in Wilmore, Ky.
