
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Brandon Kibert has qualified for the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championship Meet at the St. Jude Half Marathon ran Saturday in Memphis, Tenn.
Kibert, a senior from Tazewell, Tenn., covered the 13.11 mile course with a time of one hour, 14 minutes and 15 seconds to qualify for his second straight marathon at the NAIA championship. He eclipsed the NAIA 'A' qualifying mark by 45 seconds and also broke his school record by 1:09.
He finished fourth in the 20-24 male age group and eighth overall out of the 5,766 runners that completed the race.
In his other appearance at the NAIA marathon last season, he finished 33rd with a time 2:48.03 over the 26.22 mile layout. Kibert is the first Union athlete to qualify for the NAIA Track & Field National Championship this season.
