BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – Kevin Niehaus, a Simon Kenton High School standout, has signed to play his collegiate soccer at Union College.
Niehaus was an honorable mention All-Region player in his senior season after he scored five goals and added four assists. He also was the team captain. Niehaus also earned a spot on the All-Thoroughbred Classic team this past season.
In 2006, Niehaus was the offensive player of the year with nine goals and five assists.
Union head coach Tyler Brock looks for Niehaus to make an immediate impact. “This signing starts to help us rebuild our midfielders that we are loosing to graduation,” Brock said. The Bulldogs graduate 12 players this year and eight could play in the midfield.
“Kevin has a great work ethic, and looks to work hard on the both the attacking and defensive side of the play,” Brock added.
Union finished 2007 with a 10-7-1 record, the most wins since 2001, the Bulldogs’ last winning season, with 16 victories.
