LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Union senior defensive back Bert Brown earned the Mid-South Conference Special Teams Player of the Week award following his effort in helping the Bulldogs to a victory over the weekend, the league announced Monday.

Also earning league honors were Lindsey Wilson's Tommy Smith and Georgetown's Josh Downing as they were named the MSC Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively.

Brown blocked the potential go-ahead field goal in the final seconds of Union's 14-13 win at No. 25 Campbellsville (Ky.) to earn MSC Special Teams Player of the Week.

The Daytona, Fla., senior defensive back's blocked kick - his fifth of his career - helped the Bulldogs win at Campbellsville for the first time since 1995.

Defensively, Brown added six tackles and a pass breakup in the win.

Union improved to 1-1 on the season with the win.

The Bulldogs will play their home and MSC East opener on Saturday when they play host to Cumberlands (Ky.) in the annual Brass Lantern Game. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m.
