BARBOURVILLE, Ky.  - Bryan (Tenn.) scored three goals in the second half to pull away from the Union College men's soccer team, 3-0, on Wednesday in Appalachian Athletic Conference action at Burch/Nau Field.

In the first half, the Bulldogs hung tough. Despite being out shot by Bryan, 6-3, the match was scoreless at 0-0 going into intermission. UC goalie Madison Justice kept the Bulldogs in it, making three saves in the half.

The story was much different in the second half, as Bryan controlled the pace of play right from the start. They finally cracked the scoreboard in the 60th minute, as Tom Hemmings scored to make it 1-0. The Lions then added goals in the 70th and 74th minutes to go up by three.

The Bulldogs' last chance to get on the ‘board came late in the contest on a penalty kick, awarded to Union after Bryan's goalie received a red card.  Jonathan Watson's attempt, however, was blocked out of the net. The save solidified the shutout win for Bryan, as they remained unbeaten in the AAC with the win.

Overall, Bryan outshot Union 17-6 in the match, outshooting the Bulldogs 11-3 in the second half. Both teams took four corners on the afternoon.

The Bulldogs are now idle for the week, returning to action next Wednesday, Sept. 26, when they travel to rival Cumberlands (Ky.) Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
