BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Union College forward Helen Weber scored a goal in each half, leading the Lady Bulldogs to a convincing 4-1 victory over Bryan (Tenn.) in Appalachian Athletic Conference action on Wednesday at Burch/Nau Field.

With the victory, UC improved to 4-1-1 overall, 2-0-1 in the AAC. Bryan fell to 1-6-1 with the loss, 0-1-1 in the AAC.

In the first period, the Lady Bulldogs got off to a blazing start, as Weber scored her first goal of the afternoon just one minute and 15 seconds into the match. Aline Dalmedico assisted the goal, as UC took an early 1-0 lead.

A little over seven minutes later, UC increased the lead to two when Sofie Jorgensen scored her ninth goal of the season off a pass from Weber, on a shot that bounced off Bryan's goalie's hands and into the net. The assist for Weber was her third of the season, as the Lady Bulldogs went up 2-0. 

From there in the first period, the Lady Bulldogs continued to control, and took the 2-0 lead into the half. In the period, UC controlled play, holding Bryan to no shots in the entire period.

But, as the second half began, Bryan cut Union's lead in half, cashing in on their first shot of the afternoon in the 48th minute. Lauren Glocke scored the goal for the Lady Lions, as the Lady Bulldogs now led 2-1. 

In the 52nd minute, the Lady Bulldogs put the match away, as Weber scored her second goal of the match, unassisted on a shot from 20 yards out that bent into the net. The goal was the sixth of the year for the Sophomore, and gave UC a 3-1 lead. 

The matches final score came in the 77th minute, as Dalmedico finally scored a goal after taking many shots in the contest (16 in total). Jorgensen assisted the goal, which was the fifth of the year for Dalmedico, and gave UC the commanding three-goal lead.

From there, the Lady Bulldog defense continued to stymie the Bryan offense, holding the Lady Lions to just three shots on the afternoon in the comfortable three-score victory.

Overall, UC outshot Bryan by a staggering 33-3 margin, taking 16 shots in the first half, and 17 in the second. The Lady Bulldogs ended the match holding a 5-0 edge in corner kicks, as well.

The Lady Bulldogs return to the pitch on Saturday, when they host Columbia (S.C.) in another AAC tilt at Burch/Nau Field. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
