WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. - Union College forward Sofie Jorgensen scored twice, including the game-winner in the second half, as the Lady Bulldogs bested rival Cumberlands (Ky.), 3-2, in NAIA women's Soccer action on Wednesday.

With the win, UC moved to 6-1-1 overall, while Cumberlands fell to 2-6 on the year with the loss.

In the first period, Jorgensen got the Lady Bulldogs on the scoreboard seven minutes into regulation, unassisted. The 1-0 lead, however, was short lived, as Cumberlands answered in the 22nd minute to tie the match up at one on a goal by Ana Derrico.

Union answered the Cumberlands goal in the 27th minute, as Aline Dalmedico scored, unassisted to make it 2-1 Lady Bulldogs. The goal was the third of the year for the sophomore.

But, once again, Cumberlands answered with an equalizer, as Toni Dempsey scored in the 37th minute to tie it back up at two. The score remained that way into the half, as the match was tied at two goals apiece as the second half began.

This set the stage for Jorgensen's eventual game-winner in the 58th minute. The goal, which was again unassisted, was the 11th of the season for the junior, as the Lady Bulldogs held a one-goal lead with a little over 30 minutes left in the match.

From there, the Lady Bulldog defense took over, holding Cumberlands to three shots the rest of the match. Union was also without the services of Jorgensen in the final 29 minutes, as she was forced to leave the game after receiving a red card in the 61st minute.

Despite that, the Lady Bulldogs hung on for the win. The victory was the third in a row for Union on the year, and their fifth straight over Cumberlands in the series between the schools.

Overall for the match, Union outshot Cumberlands 13-10, while both squads took two corners each in the contest. Lady Bulldog goalie Stephanie Burton made three saves on the afternoon for Union, as they shutout Cumberlands in the second half on defense.

The Lady Bulldogs return to the pitch on Saturday, when they dive back into AAC play with a match at Milligan (Tenn.) Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
