BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – Union College cycling coach, Chuck Coffey has signed his first rider for the 2008 season, German Bermudez

Bermudez, originally from Columbia, South America, comes to Union from Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) College. Bermudez, also known as Nano, spent two seasons as a part of the Blue Raider program.

“We are very pleased to add Nano and his racing experience to our team,” Coffey said. “He brings strong leadership skills and talent.”

Coffey looks for Bermudez to give Union four of the strongest male expert riders in the country. Bermudez will race side-by-side with Zach Winn (Ontario, Canada), the Midwest Collegiate Cycling Conference Division II Rider of the Year, Greg Gibson (Salt Lake City, Utah) and Jonathon Turner (Harlan, Ky.) next season.

Union finished fourth at the NCCA Division II National Championship in October with a second-place performance at the MWCCC Championship.
