BRISTOL, Tenn. - The Union men's golf team sits fourth in the Fall Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament and fifth in the standings for the Virginia Intermont College Invitational following the opening round of play on Monday.
Union shot a 31-over, 315 for the day, placing it 10 back of leader Tennessee Wesleyan, which leads both fields with 305. Milligan (Tenn.) is second at 306, and Reinhardt (Ga.) is third at 308.
NCAA Division III Spalding is fourth in the Virginia Intermont Invite as it shot a 312 with Union three strokes back.
There are 12 teams in the Virginia Intermont Invitation and nine in the Fall AAC Tournament.
Thomas Scott is pacing the Bulldogs with a four-over 75, which is good enough to tie him for seventh overall. Aaron Wright is tied with four others in 16th place with a seven-over 78, and Garrett Bradley and Tim Cooper are tied for 25th with a 10-over 81.
Virginia Intermont's Trevor Banks leads the field with a three-under 68.
The final round will be played Tuesday.
