BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - The Union volleyball team suffered a pair of setbacks as it dropped matches to visiting IU-Southest and No. 13 Georgetown (Ky.) on Saturday.

The Lady Bulldogs were swept in both matches, losing 25-19, 25-16, 25-23 to IU-Southeast in the first match and 25-15, 25-22, 25-12 to Georgetown in the second match.

Union is now 12-14 overall on the year. The Lady Bulldogs return to action Tuesday when it plays host to Tennessee Wesleyan at 6:30 p.m. in Appalachian Athletic Conference action.

IU-Southeast 3, Union 0

In the Lady Bulldogs' first match of the day, IU-Southeast came back from a deficit in two of three  sets to sweep away Union, 3-0.

In the first set, IU-Southeast came out strong, opening an 8-4 lead over the Lady Bulldogs. Union, however, stormed back, taking the lead at 14-12 after a block assist by Caity Merritt and Hollie Hopkins. From there, IU-Southeast rolled, going on a 13-5 run to end the match to take the first set.

In the second frame, the Lady Bulldogs were the aggressors early, opening a 11-6 lead after an IU-Southeast attack error. But, IU-Southeast once again came roaring back, going on a huge 19-4 run to put the match away and go up two sets to zero over Union.

In the third and final set, momentum swung back-and-forth throughout, eventually leading to things being tied at 20-all.

Here, IU-Southeast scored three straight points to go up 23-20, and faced match point after going up 24-22. Union was kept alive by a Paige Moore kill that made it 24-23, but IU-Southeast came back and scored the match-winning point on a kill.

Overall, Moore led Union with 10 kills, five digs, and two block-assists. Merritt added eight kills, while libero Gabrielle Kelly had 10 digs in the defeat.

Georgetown 3, Union 0

The visiting Lady Tigers roared out to a 25-15 win in the opening set en route to the 3-0 sweep of Union in the day's final match.

Union did battle hard against the 13th-ranked team in the NAIA in set two, but Georgetown managed to pull out the 25-22 decision. The Lady Tigers completed the sweep with a 25-12 third-set win.

Moore led Union with seven kills.
