PINEVILLE, Ky. - The Union women's golf team owns a 12-stroke lead after the opening round of play of the Bulldog Invite at Wasioto Winds Golf Course in Pineville, Ky.

The Lady Bulldogs shot a 341 on Monday, putting them in front of second-place Tennessee Wesleyan which posted a 353.

Pikeville is third at 358, while Indiana Tech (366), Bryan (Tenn.) (368) and Asbury (Ky.) (398) round out the six-team field.

Audrey Nelson of Bryan leads all golfers with a 79, while Union's Katie Nusz and Tennessee Wesleyan's Lexi Stewart are tied for second with an 82. Union's Ashley Buxton is next in line with an 83, while Pikeville's Christen Cropper rounds out the top five with an 85.

Also helping Union out was Kelli Hensley, whose 86 was good enough for sixth place overall. Meanwhile, Danielle Judd is tied for ninth with an 88, and Sydney Smith is tied for 15th with a 90.

Second round play will tee off at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.
