BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Union College coach Rafael Forti bolstered the 2007-08 roster recently when Kristina Kirk of Versailles, Ky., committed to swim for the Lady Bulldogs next season.

Kristina is a very gifted student-athlete. She has not only succeeded in the swimming pool but also in the classroom and in her community," said Forti. "I am looking forward to see her succeeding at Union College."

Kirk, who is currently a senior at Woodford County High, is a freestyle specialist and competed for the Thoroughbred Nautical Team.

"She is a very explosive and fast freestyle swimmer," Forti noted. "She will bring more depth to our freestyle sprinting events, and I am sure she will adjust to the college level very quickly. She brings with her many years of good coaching and experience at a very competitive swimming level."

The Bulldogs posted a 8-8 overall record during the regular season and placed 18th at the NAIA Championship Meet.
