BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - The Union College women's soccer team will open the 2012 Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament as the number four seed, and will host fifth-seeded Reinhardt (Ga.) at Burch/Nau Field on Saturday afternoon in a quarterfinal matchup. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
The Lady Bulldogs, who finished the regular season with a 10-5-1 overall record and a 6-2-1 ledger in the AAC, battled Reinhardt to a 2-2, double overtime draw on the road. In the match. Sofie Jorgensen scored both of UC's goals, and goalie Stephanie Burton made three saves in the overtime periods to preserve the tie.
Elsewhere in the tournament, Montreat will be the number one seed after capturing the 2012 AAC Regular Season crown, finishing league play with a 7-1-1 record. Tennessee Wesleyan is the second seed, followed by Milligan (Tenn.), the Lady Bulldogs, and Reinhardt.
The winners of Saturday's quarterfinal contests will move on the following weekend's semifinals, which will begin on Nov. 8 at the highest remaining seeds site.
