BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Union College's Jonathan Shipley, Otis Manning, Darrin Greene, and Zach Eagler have been named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-District College Division Football Team. The team was selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Shipley, a senior, has earned a spot on the All-District team for the second straight season after posting a 3.36 GPA as a health/human performance major at Union. This season, Shipley has been a steady force on the Union offensive line, making a start at guard in each of the team's 10 games.
Manning, a sophomore, nabbed a spot after recording a 3.30 GPA as a business major. In 2012, he's seen action in five games at linebacker, making five tackles (four of which were solo stops).
Greene, a senior, also earns a spot on the All-District team for the second straight season in 2012, as he has a 3.47 GPA as a criminal justice major. In 2012, Greene has played in all 10 of the Bulldogs' games, making 43 total tackles at linebacker. He's also made an interception, and broken up four passes on the year, as well.
Eagler, also a senior, takes a spot on the All-District team with a 3.71 GPA as a business major. On the field in 2012, Eagler has seen action in all 10 games for Union at linebacker, making 69 total tackles. He's also recorded two sacks on the year, as well.
The Union College football team hosts Pikeville (Ky.) on Saturday at Burch/Nau Field in the squad's 2012 season finale. Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m.
