LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Union senior quarterback Mike Brinkley is the Mid-South Conference Football Offensive Player of the Week for the final week of the 2012 regular season, conference officials announced on Monday.

The weekly honor is the first of the season for Brinkley and the third of his career.

Brinkley threw for a career-high 401 yards and five touchdowns in Union's 60-59 win over Pikeville in the regular-season finale to earn the weekly award.

Brinkley, an Anthony, Fla. native, recorded touchdown tosses of 27, 40, 23, 34 and 20 yards to end as the Bulldogs all-time leader in touchdown passes with 94. His 20-yard touchdown throw with 8.9 seconds left in the game proved to be the game-winner for the Bulldogs.

Brinkley ended the day 20-for-42 without throwing an interception. The 401 yards marked the sixth time in his career he has eclipsed the 300-yard plateau and the first time over 400 yards.

In addition to his career touchdown mark, Brinkley owns seven school records and is the only Bulldog signal caller with four 2,000-yard seasons through the air.

Brinkley ranks fifth in the Mid-South in total offense per game (191) and passing yards per game (189.3) this season.

With the win, Union ends its 2012 season with a 4-7 overall record and a 1-4 mark in the MSC Ease Division.
