BOONE, N.C. - The Union College men's and women's indoor track & field teams took part in the their first meet of 2013 the last two days, participating at the 2013 Mountaineer Indoor Open held on the campus of Appalachian State (N.C.).
For the women's team, Feiarra Foster placed fourth in the long jump with a leap of 14 feet, six inches (a program record), while Kayse Cornett finished ninth in the weight throw after a toss of 32 feet, 7.5 inches (also a program record). Meanwhile, Abbie Tigue finished 10th in the shot put with an 30 feet, nine inch effort, and Foster rounded out the top performances for the Lady Bulldogs at the meet placing 12th in the 55m dash in 8.17 seconds.
On the men's side, Tommie Hayes finished sixth in the high jump after a six foot effort, a program record, while Matt Francis placed 10th in the shot put with a 40 feet, 9.50 inch throw to round out the top performances for the Bulldogs in the meet. Francis' effort in the shot put and the weight throw (31 feet, 11.50 iniches) were also career bests.
The Union College men's and women's indoor track & field teams return to action on on Feb. 1 at the Findlay Classic in Findlay, Ohio.
