MONTREAT, N.C. - The Union women's basketball team played like its old self Thursday as the Lady Bulldogs recorded an 81-72 Appalachian Athletic Conference victory over host Montreat (N.C.).

The win snaps a two-game winless skid as Union improves to 15-8 overall and 8-5 in conference play. Meanwhile, Montreat suffered its fourth loss in a row to fall to 14-10 overall and 5-8 in the AAC.

Senior center Lindsey Waters registered her league-leading seventh double-double of the season with 22 points and 14 rebounds. Three others scored in double figures with Lydia Nash netting 13, Haley Perkins adding 12 and Alyson Roberts chipping in 10.

The Lady Bulldogs led 41-40 at the half, and play was close for much of the second half until Union pulled away at the end. Amber Taylor hit four free throws during the final minute to help seal the 81-72 decision.

Union shot the ball well, connecting on 29-of-60 shots (49. percent) from the field and made 18-of-22 free throws (81.8 percent). Conversely, Montreat made 36.4 percent (28-of-77 shots) from the floor and 13-of-17 (76.5 percent) from the foul line.

The Lady Bulldogs dominated the glass, outrebounding the Lady Cavaliers 45-35.
