BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - The Union College men's basketball team begins the final week of the 2012-13 regular season on Wednesday night, hosting Point (Ga.) in an Appalachian Athletic Conference match-up at Robsion Arena. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
The Bulldogs (13-13 overall, 6-8 AAC) evened their record on the year this past Saturday, holding off a late charge from UC-Clermont to record a 95-87 victory, their third in a row. In the win, forward Deante Johnson, playing for the first time in six games, recorded a double-double with 24 points and 11 rebounds to lead the way. The double-double was Johnson's fifth of the year.
Point (18-9, 9-5 AAC) currently sits in second place in the AAC standings, and won their third game in a row on Saturday at home against Virginia Intermont, 81-75. Guard Seth Houston led the Skyhawks in the win, scoring 20 points off the bench.
In the first match-up of the season between the two on Jan. 16, Point took a big first half lead and never look back in an 82-72 win on their floor over the Bulldogs. Union was led in the loss by Johnson, who had a double-double with 20 points (a game-high) and 11 rebounds.
