BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – The Union College Athletic department has reached an agreement with WOBZ-TV Channel 9 out of London, Ky. to broadcast selected UC sporting events this spring, the department announced recently.
"We are excited about the coverage of college baseball and softball to the southeastern Kentucky region," said Joey Kesler, co-owner and general manager of WOBZ. "We are delighted to have Union as part of our new lineup."
"We are very excited to expand the broadcasting of Union College Athletics to TV-9," said Union Interim Director of Athletics Tim Curry. "This will give us a completely new market for showcasing our student-athletes and programs within the Department of Athletics here at Union College. We certainly look forward to this new and exciting endeavor for UC Athletics."
The agreement will air selected baseball and softball games on tape delay every Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. on TV-9. The debut broadcast is slated for this Saturday evening, and will feature UC's baseball game against Asbury from earlier this week.
WOBZ-TV-9 reaches over 150,000 homes in Laurel, Jackson, Rockcastle, Clay, Lee and Owsley Counties in the Appalachian area.
