BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - The 2013 Appalachian Swimming & Diving Conference Championships kicked off Thursday night in front of a capacity crowd at the Stivers Aquatic Center.
Overall, Notre Dame (Ohio) leads in both the men's (92 points) and women's (96 points) standings after the first day of competition. In all, just four swimming events were contested on the night, while four diving events also took place.
For Union, the men's team sits in eighth place after garnering 30 points in their lone event of the evening, the 400-medley relay. The Bulldogs placed fourth in the event, finishing in 3:31.04. The mark for UC was easily an NAIA National Qualifying "A" cut.
On the women's side, the Lady Bulldogs were disqualified in their side of the 400-medley relay.
Things will be much busier for the Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs tomorrow, as day two of the 2013 ASC Championships commences. Preliminaries tomorrow will begin at 9:30 a.m., with finals set to begin at 6 p.m. inside the Stivers Center.
