DANVILLE, Ky. – In the first meet of the calendar year for the Union College Lady Bulldogs' swim team, Mollie Messmer recorded a pair of individual Top 10 finishes at the Colonel Classic this past weekend.

Messmer, a sophomore from Scott City, Mo., was sixth in the 400-yard individual medley and ninth in the 200 individual medley. She posted times of five minutes and 24.04 seconds in the 400 and a 2:32.12 in the 200.

She swam the first leg of the 400 freestyle relay team that finished sixth. Kristina Kirk (Versailles, Ky.), Kelli Rogers (Elizabethtown, Ky.) and Eden Ellison (Tamms, Ill.) made up the rest of the team that finished the race with a 4:21.28 which is a new season best.

Kirk also picked up a tenth-place finish in the 100 backstroke with her time of 1:10.31.

Union finished sixth in the team standings while Centre (Ky.) College took the team championship. This marked the first meet for the Bulldogs since the Asbury (Ky.) College Invitational which ended on Dec. 1.

Next for the Bulldogs is a return trip to Centre when Union will face Asbury and Centre Saturday, Jan. 26.
