WEST POINT, Ga. - A ninth-inning rally pushed host Point (Ga.) to the victory as the Union baseball team fell 3-2 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference contest

The loss drops Union to 9-7 overall and 1-2 in conference play, while Point is now 10-7 overall and 2-1 in the AAC.

Union led 2-1 going into the ninth when Point rallied for two runs to get the victory. With two outs, Evan Hilton drove in the game-winning run.

The Bulldogs drew first blood, taking advantage of back-to-back walks to start the game. Following a LaVance Anderson (Bowling Green, Ky.) sac bunt to put runners on second and third with one out, Tyler Brake (Burlington, Ky.) came through with a two-run single to give Union the early advantage.

It remained 2-0 until the fifth when Point scratched out a run. Union appeared to be on its way to the series win, but Point squashed those hopes with the ninth-inning comeback.

Outside of the rocky first inning, Christian Watford pitched a gem for the Skyhawks in going the distance to get the win. He allowed two runs on three hits and three walks with 10 strikeouts to improve to 2-1.

The Bulldogs got soliding pitching out of Nelson Price (Burkesville, Ky.), who went six innings and gave up one earned run on five hits and one walk. Trey Alexander (Glasgow, Ky.) tossed one inning of shutout ball, but Justin King (Barbourville, Ky.) pitched the final 1 2/3 innings and suffered the loss, dropping him to 1-2.

Up next for Union is No. 12 Lindsey Wilson (Ky.). The Blue Raiders are scheduled to come to Jerry W. Carey Stadium on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
