Taking the loss for the Knights was Joe McCarty, who surrendered three runs, two earned, on seven hits and one walk with one strikeout. He drops to 4-2 on the year.
Price's and King's battery mate Zach Dillman (Cincinnati, Ohio) came up big at the plate, going 3-for-3 with three RBIs.
Union seized control of the game with a pair of two-run rallies late in the game. Up 1-0 in the sixth, Dillman lofted a sac fly to right field to allow Tyler Brake (Burlington, Ky.) to score. Miguel Mendez (Lansing, Mich.) added a run-scoring single to give Union a 3-0 advantage.
In the seventh, Dillman delivered a two-run single to push the Bulldogs' lead to 5-0.
J.D. Burrell (Amanda, Ohio) finished the game 3-for-5.
In addition to solid pitching, Union played well defensively, turning three double plays. Right fielder Ben Hartley (Lexington, Ky.) even recorded a rare unassisted double play by an outfielder to end the top of the fifth. Ricky Schattauer hit a hard line drive to Hartley in right, and Michael Luing believed it was a hit. However, Hartley made the catch and then strolled in to touch second to complete the double play.
