COLUMBIA, Ky. - The Union College men's and women's track & field teams took part in the Lindsey Wilson Invitational on Saturday. Overall, the UC men's team finished sixth overall, while the women's team placed seventh.
For the men, senior Frantzy Sejour led the way on the afternoon. Sejour had high finishes in two events, placing third in the 200-meter dash (23.38) and fourth in the long jump (20 feet, 3.75 inches). Sejour also placed eighth in the 100-meter dash, crossing the finish line in 11.59. All three finishes were personal bests for Sejour.
Meanwhile, William White also had a big day, finishing third in the javelin (155 feet, 11.75 inches) and fifth in the shot put (40 feet, six inches). Dalton Whitney finished just behind Sejour in the 200-meter dash, placing fifth (23.49), placed fourth in the triple jump (40 feet, seven inches), and seventh in the long jump (18 feet, six inches).
On the women's side, Kayse Cornett finished fifth in the shot put (29 feet, 11.5 inches) and eighth in the hammer throw (65 feet). Rounding out the top performances on the day for the women's team were Darby Martin, who placed sixth in the pole vault (seven feet, 0.75 inches, a new program record), and Christa Hicks, who was eighth in the long jump (15 feet, 0.75 inch effort).
The Union College track & field teams return to action on Saturday, traveling to the Bellarmine (Ky.) Invitational in Louisville.
