BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - The Union College softball team was swept in an out-of-conference doubleheader by Lincoln Memorial (Tenn.) on Wednesday, losing game one, 6-4 and game two, 7-2.

With the pair of losses, UC fell to 10-18 overall, while LMU improved to 25-18 with the victories.

Game One

In game one, LMU used a five-run fifth inning to pull off a come-from-behind two-run victory over the Lady Bulldogs.

UC jumped out to a 4-0 lead after four innings, scoring a pair of runs in both the second and third innings. In the second, Rachel Cogdill smacked a two-RBI single with two outs, while in the third, Cameron Campbell had the big hit of the inning, a two-RBI double.

But, in the fifth, LMU stormed back, scoring four runs off of UC starter Gianna Schauer and another off relief pitcher Cogdill to go up 5-4. The Lady Railsplitters added their last run in the top of the seventh, as UC went down in order in the bottom of the seventh to fall by two runs in the first game.

Overall, Campbell was 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored, while Alissa Hampton was 2-for-3 with a run scored. In the pitching circle, Cogdill (0-2) took the loss, while LMU's Samantha Smith (17-10) earned the complete game victory.

Game One - Turning Point

Down 4-0 entering the fifth, LMU loaded the bases up with one out, and knocked UC starter Schauer out of the contest after she walked in a run to make it 4-1. LMU's Cierra Mudd then came to the plate, and hit a 3-2 offering over the center field fence against reliever Cogdill, giving LMU their first lead of the contest at 5-4.

Game Two

In game two, LMU jumped out to a three-run lead in the top of the first, on their way to a convincing five run victory to complete the sweep.

After the three-run outburst by LMU in the top of the first, UC got on the board in the bottom half of the inning on a Campbell RBI single to make it 3-1. That was the last run the Lady Bulldogs would score until the bottom of the seventh, as LMU added two runs in both the third and seventh innings. It was more than enough run support for starter Amanda Snow, who struck out 12 in a complete game victory (4-5).

For UC, Campbell and Autumn Greenwell both went 2-for-3 in the second game. Cogdill (0-3) started the game, and was handed a loss after tossing six innings.
