ATHENS, Tenn. - The Union College softball team lost a pair of games at Appalachian Athletic Conference foe Tennessee Wesleyan on Friday afternoon. TWC won game one, 8-1, then completed the sweep with a 9-2 victory in game two.
With the losses, Union fell to 11-25 overall, 3-11 in the AAC, while TWC improved to 21-15, 11-7 in the AAC with the DH sweep.
In game one, TWC jumped out to a 6-0 lead after one inning, and never looked back the rest of the way. Overall, Union mustered just five hits in the first game, and was hampered by three fielding errors.
In the second game, TWC once again got out to a quick start, taking a 3-0 lead after one. Leading 4-0 entering the sixth, UC cut the lead in half in the top half of the frame, scoring twice to make it 4-2. But, in the bottom half of the inning, TWC put the game away, scoring four runs to go up by seven. UC went down in order in the seventh, as TWC completed the AAC doubleheader sweep.
Union returns to action on Sunday, traveling to Columbia (S.C.) for another AAC road doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 12 noon.
